Haringey Green Party has responded to the recent announcement of the closure of Saint Ann’s Road GP practice
A large privately-managed GP practice is up for sale, causing a lot of stress and uncertainty for residents in St Ann’s ward.
St Ann’s Road Surgery, managed by American multinational healthcare corporation Centre (via their British subsidiary Operose) has put the practice up for sale, as reported by the Financial Times. The local community as well as patient groups have always criticized the deal, which goes back to 2017 and now leaves 16,000 patients in distress.
Green Party policy on this matter is very clear: We stand for maintaining a publicly funded, publicly provided health service, and oppose NHS privatization and treating healthcare as a market!
