Haringey Green Party have selected local resident, Cecily Spelling, as the candidate for the West Green by-election on 13th December.
Cecily Spelling has lived on West Green Road for four years and is an active Green Party member, also holding the role of Communications Officer for Haringey Green Party.
Cecily is a local activist who spends her days working to tackle environmental injustice. She works for an environmental charity developing policy and campaigns to eliminate single-use plastics, protect the marine environment and tackle climate change. She is happiest when riding her bike around London or running around Downhills Park and Lordship Recreation Ground.
Cecily became active in the Green Party because she felt the Greens were, and continue to be, the only party that stand up for what is right. Cecily has been listening to the residents of West Green and if elected, promises to focus on:
Talking about her selection, Cecily Spelling says:
"I'm so grateful for this opportunity to represent the residents of West Green. If elected, I promise I won't take their votes for granted and to provide balance amongst the 27 Labour Councillors in Tottenham. I believe the Green Party is the only party that has passion to tackle the key issues in West Green, from air pollution to fly tipping. Elected greens around London have already shown their worth on these issues and If elected, I'll work hard for and with residents to build a greener, healthier more sustainable West Green."
In the May elections this year, the Green Party came second in West Green so Cecily is working hard to boost that vote share this time round.
