Looking forward after the General Election

9 June 2017

Thank you to the 2,457 people who voted Green across Haringey, and to everyone who helped with our campaign! The level of the squeeze on smaller parties was immense right across the country. This is one of the challenges we face in our current electoral system, which pressurises people into voting for one of the two main parties. But our work in Parliament will continue with Caroline Lucas, who almost doubled her majority in Brighton Pavilion last night.

Even though our share of the vote went down here, we're still proud of the positive campaign we ran, and our two candidates, Sam Hall and Jarelle Francis, who helped bring Green issues such as climate change into the debate at every opportunity.
We know that the result will be different for the Council elections next year because voters have told us so! Lots of people who felt they had to vote for Labour nationally told us they will vote Green locally. As Greens we will continue to stand up for people in Haringey, especially against Labour’s damaging Haringey Development Vehicle. Come and join us!
