My name is Jarelle Francis, and I'm proud to be standing for the Green Party in Tottenham in the general election on 8 June.
I was born and grew up in Tottenham and many of my happiest memories are associated with the area.
But we're now living through a time where many of the values I was accustomed to are under threat. Tottenham is still a great example of a thriving multicultural place to live, work and socialise but the decision to leave the EU leaves many of our friends and families fearful for their futures. As your MP I would fight for the rights of EU citizens to remain.
Growing up in social housing enabled my parents to bring up a family, work and save enough until they could afford to buy their own home. Today a severe lack of provision leaves Tottenham bereft of truly affordable places to buy or rent. At the same time there is a great concern amongst residents about the Haringey Development Vehicle which threatens to knock down and/or privatise Northumberland Park Estate, Broadwater Farm, schools and libraries amongst others.
I will fight for new truly affordable and sustainable homes where consultation of local people and consideration of local communities are prioritised over the demands of private developers.
The Conservative government has punished the most vulnerable people in society, with cuts to care for the elderly, disabled and cuts to schools budgets. Unfortunately Labour have not been the strong opposition needed to hold them to account and I want to be a positive alternative.
I am really enthusiastic about giving Tottenham the positive Green voice it needs and will passionately be fighting for a fairer economy, a fully funded education system and NHS, radical changes to tackle climate change and air pollution and a fair voting system.
Please support a positive vision for our country, and for Tottenham, by voting Green on 8 June!

I'm crowdfunding to help raise money so we can reach more people with the Green message in Tottenham before the election. Please help if you can.
Here are some of the key Green policies that I would push forward if I was elected as MP for Tottenham:
NHS and social care
Fight to keep publicly funded, publicly provided health service that's free at the point of use.
End the creeping privatisation of the NHS and repeal the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
Make mental health a much higher priority with resources to match this status.
Schools and Education
Scrap university tuition fees.
Promote a comprehensive system of local schools offering mixed ability teaching staffed by qualified teachers.
Bring Academies and Free Schools into the Local Authority system.
Abolish the cruel and unfair bedroom tax.
Build 500,000 social rented homes by 2020 and bring empty homes back into use to ensure everyone has access to an affordable place to live.
Cap rent and introduce longer tenancies to provide greater protection for renters.
Climate change and air pollution
Take serious action on climate change by working with other countries to ensure global temperatures do not rise beyond 2 degrees.
Phase out fossil-fuel based energy generation and nuclear power.
Invest in a public programme of renewable generation, flood defences and building insulation.
Protect all the rights of EU citizens living in this country and ensure they have the right to remain.
